i have a question about something, and google & space.com have so far proved fruitless.

mike was working the other night and forgot his wallet, so i had to bring it to him at work.

on friday night, 3 october 2008, at approximately 2318 CDT (11.18pm central time), as i was walking toward the building, i happened to look up when i saw what looked like a comet streaking through the sky.  it was as fast as a shooting star appears (zipping along!), but it was considerably closer to earth - so close, in fact, that i was actually fully anticipating an impact (this is why i looked at the clock - in case i'd need the information later!  no joke!).

at first, i'd thought it might've been just an extremely close 'shooting star,' but it didn't dissipate at all, as those tend to do; instead, it just kept flying past with a huge, bright flaming tail.  i watched it for at least a minute until i'd realised i'd have to get inside before the doors locked.

did ANY of you out there see this?  do you have any idea what the heck it was?  i've been trying to figure it out!
it was late enough at night that hardly anyone was around outside, and, consequently, no-one here seems to know what i'm talking about.

i'd really like to know, though.  it was pretty freakin' awesome to watch!

Huh. No, but that's friggin awesome. Too bad you didn't catch it on video.

I'll try and look into that one.
