my initial intent with the 'religious mixed bag' thread was largely to create an area where Religify's users could share relevant videos, articles, websites, and book and film recommendations.
the focus has shifted a bit; so instead of impeding the flow of the current debate, which I find quite interesting, I've decided to provide a new area for such things.

this topic is for the aforementioned media & literary recommendations and information, as well as reviews of relevant materials.

(I will refrain from re-posting the suggestions I'd made in the first few of 'mixed bag', as the Dept of Redundancy Dept is closed, though I'll link to it in the event you're curious.)

be sure to keep it clean  Wink

I've some videos I wanted to post:

first: the clearest, most sensible explanation of why the separation of Church and State is so important - I really, really am curious how anyone can honestly refute this (and if you feel you can, by all means...):
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdB1_KFOhnU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdB1_KFOhnU</a>
the first five minutes contain the speech itself, which is the most valuable part.

next, the first video in a series created by people who were raised in fundamentalist Christian homes in that 'holiest' of states, Texas; in their series, 'an honest search for the truth', they
Quote
take the perspective of a believing Christian within the context of the Bible having a divine author thereby ostensibly rendering it the perfect moral authority.
I am incredibly curious about responses this video will (hopefully) get on here:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgs_gsgn-MU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgs_gsgn-MU</a>

they also favourited this video, an excerpt from the west wing:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSXJzybEeJM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSXJzybEeJM</a>

on a lighter note, some satire; I find it quite amusing - until I remember how many christians have argued in such a way in complete seriousness:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkhQLt1vbWU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkhQLt1vbWU</a>

and this one just made me giggle a lot; i love the animation (=

Just a quick reply for now, but I myself have come across "An Atheist Meets God." I recommend it.

I love this debate. (It's really an interview-debaty type thing.)

It's a playlist of movies, it is long, but good.

Also, this is a program Nova put on, about the evolution trial in Dover.

This Penn and Teller Show, 'Bullshit', is about the bible. I guess I'm putting it in place of my essay.
